Draw a line with a surface marking pen on a model in the Anatomical position, the course of the Brachial Artery in the Arm and at the Cubital Fossa within a time limit of one minute.

Objective No 78 - Criteria to be demonstrated.

1. Request the model to abduct the arm through 90 degrees and laterally rotate the Shoulder Joint.

2. Palpate and surface mark the Head of Radius (Objective No 11)

3. Palpate the Lateral boundary of the Axillary Space.

4. Mark the position of the Axillary Artery at a point representing the junction of the anterior and middle thirds of the Lateral boundary of the Axillary space.

5. At this point the Artery name is changed from Axillary to Brachial.

6. Count the pulse of the Axillary Artery at this point where it can be compressed against the underlying medial surface of the shaft of Humerus.

7. Identify the Cubital Fossa and surface mark the anterior line of the Elbow Joint (Objective No 28)

8. Mark the mid-point of the line at the level of the Head of Radius.

9. Draw a line from step 4 to step 8.

10. Note the projected line lies on the Medial surface of Biceps Brachii and the tendon of Biceps Brachii at the Elbow Joint.

9.Count the pulse of the Brachial Artery.
