Draw with a pen the anterior surface marking of the centre of the Hip Joint on a model in the Anatomical Position with side lighting and a time limit of one minute.

Objective No 111 - Criteria to be demonstrated.

(Chaperone required)

1. Identify the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine and surface mark. (Objective No 96).

2. Explain technique and request the model to self identify the position of the Symphysis Pubis.

3. Draw an imaginary line from the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine to the indicated position of the Symphysis Pubis.

4. Identify the mid-point of the imagined line.

5. The anterior surface marking of the Hip Joint centre lies approximately 2cms inferior to the mid-point of the above line.
