Draw with a skin marking pen the projected outline of the Medial Malleolus on a model in the Anatomical position with side lighting and a time limit of thirty seconds. Objective No 101 - Criteria to be demonstrated. 1. Place the palpating finger tips on the Antero-medial flat subcutaneous surface of the shaft of Tibia. 2. Palpate towards the medial aspect of the foot and observe how the subcutaneous surface of the shaft of Tibia becomes continuous below with a blunt bony visible prominence on the medial aspect of the ankle. 3. This visible subcutaneous bony prominence is the Medial Malleolus of the Tibia. 4. Note that the inferior border of the Medial Malleolus is more anterior than the Lateral Malleolus of the Fibula . 5. Note that the sharp , projecting subcutaneous Lateral Malleolus of the Fibula is more posterior and terminates approximately 1.5cms below the Medial Malleolus of the Tibia.
