Identify the position and surface mark with a pen the position of the Trapezium bone on a model in the anatomical position with side lighting and a time limit of 15 seconds

Objective No 18 - Criteria to be demonstrated.

1. Request the model to flex the elbow joint to a right angle.

2. Identify the position of the Scaphoid bone (Objective No 19)

3. Place the tip of the palpating finger on the Scaphoid bone .

4. Move the finger tip on the palmar surface of the hand approximately 2.5cms in a line from the Scaphoid bone to the cleft between Thumb and first finger.

5. Palpate with firm pressure at this point deep to the muscles of the Thenar eminence.

6. A crest like projection of bone can be identified at this point.

7. This projection is the position of the Trapezium bone.
