   Identify by palpation and mark with a surface marking pen on a model in the anatomical position the position of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone in the foot.

Objective No. 109 - Criteria to be demonstrated with the model in the Anatomical Position.

1. Identify and palpate the lateral border of the foot from the Calcaneus posteriorly to the tip of the distal phalanx of the fifth toe.

2. The base of the fifth metatarsal bone is located halfway along the lateral border of the foot where it may be palpated as a prominent bony feature.

3. When the lateral border of the foot is raised in eversion against maximal resistance, the tendon of Peroneus Brevis may be identified (Objective No 140) passing round the lateral malleolus of the fibula to the base of the fifth metatarsal.
