Demonstrate the action and palpate the Opponens Digiti Minimi on a model in the Anatomical position with a time limit of one minute.

Objective No 71 - Criteria to be demonstrated.

1. Request the model to place one hand on a table with the Palmar surface facing upwards.

2. Surface mark the position of the Hook of  the Hamate bone (Objective No 17)

3. Surface mark the  position of the medial border of the shaft of the fifth Metacarpal bone.

4. Request the model to bring the tip of the Little finger and tip of the Thumb  together using firm pressure in the action of opposition.

5. The belly of  Opponens Digiti Minimi lies lateral to Flexor Digiti minimi and it can be palpated with deep pressure  on the Hypothenar eminence as it passes from the Hook of Hamate to its distal attachment on the medial border of the  fifth metacarpal bone.
