Demonstrate the action and palpate the tendon of Extensor Pollicis Longus on a model in the Anatomical position with a time limit of one minute.

Objective No 64 - Criteria to be demonstrated.

1. Request the model to fully extend the Thumb joints against maximal resistance with the Elbow joint flexed to  ninety degrees and the Hand  placed in a position midway between the full range of pronation with the Thumb superior.

2. The distinct and subcutaneous long tendon of Extensor Pollicis Longus forms the posterior boundary of the Anatomical Snuffbox which is clearly visible when the Thumb joints are fully extended.

3. The Long tendon can be palpated from where it passes round the Dorsal tubercle of Radius (Objective No 14) to its distal attachment on the Dorsal surface of the base of the distal phalanx of the Thumb.
